Can you drink alcohol?

The short answer

Legal, available, but not everywhere.

Licensed bars, restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets (Carrefour, Atacadão) sell alcohol. In the medina itself, visible shops are rare — the culture around alcohol is discreet. Public drinking — streets, parks, beaches — is illegal.

Morocco produces its own beer (Casablanca, Flag, Stork) and wine from five regions. Meknès reds are genuinely good. During Ramadan, alcohol sales are restricted or suspended in many places.
